What is Live Betting?
Wagering on a game while it is in progress, with odds that update in real time based on the score, time remaining and momentum.
Also known as: in-game betting, in-play
Live markets are the fastest-growing share of US sports betting and the most challenging to beat. Books update prices in milliseconds using internal models; a sharp live bettor has to be faster than that or finds edges in slow-to-update markets like player props. Live betting carries higher vig than pre-game lines, so the edge required to be +EV is bigger.
